In most cases, a shed that does not exceed 120 square feet will not need a permit. However, other factors such as a steep building site, or electrical hookup, can trigger a permit.
Yes, we do support the permit process; some aspects can be handled in-house, and others require an architect and engineer. Our team can coordinate all aspects of the process. This does add additional up-front cost.
Your site must meet the setback requirements for your municipality. It needs to be reasonably level, with at least 18 inches of workspace around the perimeter of the structure, and available power.
If the building site is level, we pour a reinforced concrete slab foundation for maximum stability and longevity. If the site is sloped, a post and beam foundation is employed.
Absolutely. After an initial phone conversation, we will pay a visit to inspect the details of the building site, and review the design options for your new home office or studio.
Yes. If you don’t wish to paint it yourself, we offer painting at an extra charge.
The design process takes about a week. The construction and installation takes two or three weeks, unless we need to wait for a special-order door or window. If you want us to paint your shed, that takes a few extra days. Electrical hookup generally occurs during that time, and sometimes a small porch or step is required. In general, think one month.
